XPS Insulated Floor System:
If you’re insulating the floor of a Crafter, our XPS floor system offers a clean, efficient solution that delivers a perfectly level surface in both directions of the van. It provides excellent thermal insulation while also reducing noise by minimising vibration from the floor panels.
Each XPS panel is CNC-cut to precisely match the contours of the van floor, ensuring a secure, movement-free fit. Despite being lightweight—just 4.2 kg for a medium wheelbase in 30 mm thickness—the panels are highly durable, with a load rating of 3 tonnes per square metre. The system raises the floor height by around 15 mm, preserving valuable headroom without compromising insulation or acoustic performance.
A key advantage of this system is how effectively it fills the floor voids. Unlike traditional methods that leave air gaps, these panels sit flush and fully occupy the cavities, providing up to 30 mm of insulation where it matters most. The result is improved thermal efficiency and a noticeably quieter van.
Manufactured from extruded polystyrene (XPS), the panels are moisture-resistant, dimensionally stable, and capable of withstanding extreme temperatures down to -40°C.
From a weight perspective, the system offers further benefits. By supporting the floor across its entire surface, it eliminates the need for thick top boards to bridge gaps. This allows for a thinner floor panel and reduces overall weight. In contrast, traditional timber-framed setups often leave voids, require thicker boards, and add unnecessary bulk / uneven finishes.
Installation is quick and straightforward, typically taking less than 60 minutes. Simply apply adhesive and position the panels. The full-surface coverage creates a solid, level base ready for the next stage of your build.
We recommend evenly weighing down the panels for 12 hours after bonding before continuing to work.
Optional Floor Finishing Boards
An optional finishing layer is available, consisting of 6 sheets of 6 mm marine plywood with staggered, overlapping joints. The top layer is pre-drilled with countersunk holes, allowing for a fully fixed, professional-grade floor finish. combining to 12mm.
